Children's Dreams: A Design for a Warm and Refreshing Home

Creating the Perfect Learning Environment

Due to the severe outbreak of epidemic in 2020, learning online replaces face to face in the classroom. The reason the house owner decided to change the bigger house is making a better learning environment for her three lovely children. So as us, We regard children’s education as the most important things in this house.

The Children's Dreams design, created by renowned designer Ching Pei Lee, is a residential project that prioritizes the well-being and education of children. In response to the changing times and the need for a conducive learning environment, this design aims to provide a warm and refreshing space for the entire family.

The house features elegant lines of moldings, light-toned wooden flooring, and soft grey-toned paint, creating a space that exudes a sense of warmth and tranquility. The lighting conditions have been carefully considered to ensure optimal visibility and comfort for the children.

One of the unique features of this design is the inclusion of an exclusive playroom and a huge book wall. A perforated board wall replaces the traditional TV wall design, allowing for flexible layout arrangements and adding a sense of fun and comfort to daily life. This space provides ample room for the children to explore, play, and learn.

The dining and kitchen area is centered around a long dining table, with a hut-shaped reading corner and a swing created on one side. This setup allows the female homeowner to interact with the children while cooking, fostering a sense of togetherness and emotional bonding. The meaning of home life is redefined with small but definite moments of happiness.

In the private areas of the house, different colors are used to reflect the personalities of the occupants. The master bedroom is adorned with elegant and gentle light green tones, bringing out the romantic and tender side of the female homeowner. The daughter's room is decorated in pale pink and white, matching the girl's delicate and sweet style. The twin boys' room, on the other hand, is decorated in vibrant yellow and grey, creating a playful and childlike space.

The bathroom design is subtle yet visually striking, with the use of 11 different types of tiles in the master bedroom and guest bathroom. This creates two distinct atmospheres and adds depth and richness to the overall aesthetic. With the river view and ample natural lighting, the homeowner can enjoy a comfortable and relaxing bath.

The Children's Dreams design project started in April 2020 and was completed in October in Taoyuan. Throughout the process, the design team faced challenges such as revising the house plan to accommodate a children's playroom and redefining the role of the kitchen as a space for interaction and bonding. However, these challenges were overcome, resulting in a design that perfectly balances functionality, aesthetics, and the needs of the family.

The Children's Dreams design by Ching Pei Lee has been recognized for its excellence and creativity, receiving the Bronze A' Design Award in 2022 in the Interior Space, Retail, and Exhibition Design category. This prestigious award is bestowed upon designs that demonstrate outstanding technical and creative skills, contributing to improvements in quality of life.

With its focus on creating a warm and refreshing environment for children to learn, play, and grow, the Children's Dreams design is a testament to the importance of thoughtful and innovative design in enhancing our daily lives.
